Oranges are one of the signature tastes of summer, but did you know that there are tons of ways you can use oranges and orange peels? Here are a few of our favorites:
- Freeze orange zest and water in ice cube trays to make infused ice, and then add it to your summer cocktails, drinks or water for more flavor.
- Use fresh orange peels as a cleaning substitute to scrub your sink and stove.
- Put orange peels in your garbage disposal to add a refreshing citrus scent to your entire kitchen.
- Combine orange juice and cornmeal to make a natural skin exfoliator.
- Add an orange peel to your bag of brown sugar. It will help prevent the sugar from hardening.
- Infuse orange peels with a cup of vinegar to create a natural cleaner for your kitchen and bathroom.
- Add dried orange peels to a cup or pot of tea for additional citrus flavor.
- Place orange zest or an orange peel into a bottle of plain, unflavored vodka. Let it infuse for up to six weeks to give your cocktails and drinks a delicious citrus flavor.
- Spice up your salad by adding orange peels to your bottle of olive oil for a zesty dressing.
- In a sauce pan, simmer orange peels, cinnamon sticks, cloves and water to create a delightful kitchen potpourri.
