Event Spotlight: Summer Circus Picnic with Scot Forge
Scot Forge celebrated their success, 120-year history, the beautiful summer weather and their incredible team with a circus-themed picnic that blew us away. Based in Spring Grove, Illinois, the Scot Forge team gathered on July 15 across the street from their headquarters at the stunning venue Shores of Turtle Creek. Together, we were able to throw a truly sensational picnic with a menu, games, rides, fun foods and a raffle that were true to the fun circus theme.

Chicago Picnic Food and Entertainment: Circus-Themed Fun
The Fun Starts Right Away
As soon as guests arrived, they were welcomed into the picnic by stilt walkers, jugglers, clowns and, of course, the Scot Forge and Tasty coordinators decked out in festive ties and red noses.
Near the entrance was also a tent for the food drive, where Scot Forge employees and their guests could drop off donations for the food pantry.
There were also a number of welcome gifts for the 800 guests, including:
- Fidget spinners
- Big sunglasses
- Bubble wands
- Red clown noses
- Rubber ducks
- Bubble gum
And things only got better once guests entered the picnic!
Lunch is Served!
Lunch was served shortly after guests began arriving, and the menu was filled with mouthwatering dishes and sides.
Check out the full menu:
- Burgers
- Hot dogs
- Beer can-smoked chicken quarters
- Garden burgers
- Bratwurst
- American potato salad
- Green City salad
- Macaroni and cheese
- Sliced watermelon
Each of these items was served by smiling Tasty servers to very grateful (and very hungry!) Scot Forge guests who came back for seconds and even thirds. A particular hit was the macaroni and cheese, which kids and adults alike gobbled up.
Sweets, Treats & Tasty Eats
The lunch line wasn’t the only place to get food. Throughout Shores of Turtle Creek, there were plenty of fun treats.
Here are some of our favorites:
- A variety of ice cream bars
- Freshly made popcorn
- Hand-spun cotton candy
- Sno cones in several flavors
The cotton candy was even served by smiling team members strolling through the grounds. And, ready for when guests went home, there was an ice cream cart stationed at the exit for a treat to go.
An Alley of Entertainment
The Scot Forge picnic didn’t just have delicious food, it had plenty of entertaining options that guests young and old loved. They had an entire alley of tents with carnival games, crafts, a fortune teller and—of course—an entire tent dedicated to prizes.
All of the classic carnival games were there, including balloon pop, ring toss, bozo buckets and the bottle game, as well as some creative additions, like frog flinger, gopher’s revenge and hook’s treasure.
All the Classic Carnival Rides & Games
